CopyTrader: budgeting for your own trading audience

CopyTrader’s new pricing: budget for active connections, pooled places and separate project costs. New accounts receive $20 in service credit with no expiry.

CopyTrader: budgeting for your own trading audience

A strategy author may have a hundred readers and ten people ready to enable copying. What matters for the service budget is not the size of the channel, but the number of users with copying enabled. CopyTrader’s new pricing lets you budget on that basis.

The new terms are live: $15 per trader per month, including ten active users. Each active user above the pooled allowance costs another $1 per month. New accounts receive $20 in CopyTrader service credit at registration. The credited balance has no expiry date.

Start with the people who connect

Consider an author with a small private group. Ten members enable copying from the author’s account. The recurring platform fee is $15 per month. With eleven active members, it is $16; with fifty, it is $55.

Included places are pooled across the project. Three traders provide thirty active-user places. If forty users have copying enabled, the monthly cost is $55: $45 for the traders and $10 for users above the pooled allowance.

Registration and an active connection are different things. Someone who creates an account but does not enable copying is not counted as an active user. A day without new trades from the trader does not, by itself, change the status of an enabled copying connection.

To plan the budget, list the number of traders and users with copying enabled. Your channel’s reader count may help you gauge interest, but it is not the figure to use when calculating the platform fee.

Separate recurring and one-off costs

The monthly cost consists of trader fees and fees for active users above the allowance. Project setup, exchange connections, CrossTrading, Billing and hiding the Copyright notice carry no separate CopyTrader fee.

If you want a custom domain, connecting it costs $10 once per domain. Buying and renewing the domain name with a registrar are separate costs. Without a custom domain, this one-off service does not apply.

For example, one trader with ten active users and a domain connection gives a first-month budget of $25: $15 for the plan and $10 for the domain connection. With the same project setup, the ongoing cost is $15 per month. This makes it clear which part of the budget recurs.

Service credit for a new account

Registering a new account is enough to receive $20 in service credit. Once credited, the bonus does not expire and can be used for CopyTrader services without a time limit.

The credit is not money in an exchange account and does not increase the size of a trading position. It sits in the service balance, separate from the pricing calculation. Keep the full plan cost in your project budget and account for the available balance as a way to pay for services.

What else belongs in the author’s budget

The platform fee does not describe the entire economics of working with an audience. Account separately for exchange fees, any funding payments relevant to your instruments, and member support. A subscription or performance fee charged by the author is also separate from the infrastructure tariff.

Before inviting your audience, decide how many traders will be connected, how many members will enable copying and whether you need a custom domain. Decide who will help a member understand their settings and differences between trades in their account and the author’s account.

A clear infrastructure budget does not replace checking the strategy, API permissions or copying settings. It helps separate the service cost from trading results so you can decide whether to launch with your audience.
